Attorney Neil I. Rumbak’s Letter to Lieutenant Colonel Allen West in Regards to Tax Issues in 2010 and 2011

October 20, 2010

Sent Via U.S. MailLieutenant Colonel Allen West, USA, Ret.PO Box 1028Deerfield Beach, FL 33441Re: Uncertainty in Tax LawDear Colonel West:I enjoyed meeting you a couple of weeks ago at the Deerfield Beach Chamber of Commerce member breakfast. At the member breakfast, I briefly discussed with you my concern about the uncertainty surrounding the Federal tax law. You mentioned to me that Congress will retroactively reinstate the estate tax for 2010.Retroactive reinstatement of the estate tax for 2010 would have significant consequences for my clients, many of whom are your constituents. If you are elected as Congressman in the upcoming election, I, as a tax attorney, urge you to consider the effects of any retroactive reinstatement of the estate tax.In addition, if you are elected as Congressman, please do your share to enact legislation that will provide certainty as to (1) the exemption amounts and rates in 2011 for the estate tax, gift tax, and generation-skipping transfer tax and (2) the extent to which the current income tax rates and brackets will remain in 2011.Thank you for serving the United States. I wish you the best of luck in the upcoming election.

Sincerely,

Neil I. Rumbak
